I was the guy in school that frustrated his teachers by never doing homework, and somehow managing to ace the test. In Psychology class, I once took a personality test that uses colors to express different personality traits. My teacher called me a "chameleon" when she saw the results. For those that are familiar with this test, I am a Yellow/Red. Blue and White were not far behind however. I LOVE playing trivia games, even if they are simply impromptu games of 'did you know'.
I love what I do for two reasons. This may sound corny, but I help relationships. I get to see people full of fear and panic suddenly understand that they have options and the burden literally comes off their shoulders right there before my eyes. They see that there IS a way to help them, and that there is hope. I see that moment of clarity when they go "Yes YOU get it, you understand what I have been dealing with". There is a tremendous amount of stress associated with foreclosure. There shouldnt be more of it because you dont understand whats going on, and what options you have. This is my calling in life. I help people solve problems.
I have been working in Real Estate since 1998 because it allows me to thrive in an environment where there are many different aspects of the business and many different needs. Since that time, I have spent a large portion of my time working with people in foreclosure. While there probably isn't a way to prove this, I often claim to be the most experienced foreclosure consultant in the state. This is based on two observations. The first is, when I was learning all this information, I would ask others questions to try and understand more...and they had no idea what I was talking about. Veterans of the industry back in 1998 had no idea how to do a short sale, or get a loan modified. The second observation is, as I marketed for clients to help...there were no competitors. I would always ask clients to bring in any mail they received, and I never saw competitors mail until about 2002-2003.
One thing that is very unique about me, is that I don't actually perform any of the services that I discuss with people...so I do not have any bias when I help them make decisions about what direction they should choose. I dont sell houses, so I am not motivated to have them do a short sale. I dont practice law, so I am not motivated to have them file a bankruptcy. I do loans, but of course people who have missed payments cant refinance, so I am not pushing for them to try and get a new loan.
Instead, my approach is to give people good information, and allow them to decide what they want for themselves. No games, no bias...just up to the second information that allows them to understand what they need to do, and what can or cannot be done. Once a direction is chosen, I stay with the client through the process to the very end.
My vision is to see every person who deals with foreclosure in their life, be equipped with the education and skills to help them through this, and forward to a successful financial future.
